The Climate Action Champions Network (CACN) is a dedicated platform with the primary aim of empowering the youth of South Asia to combat climate change. Bringing together a diverse group of 100 participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, this network plays a pivotal role by dedicating a space for collaboration and supporting climate action within the region.
At its core, this network is driven by the aspiration to encourage and nurture a new generation of climate leaders across South Asia. These emerging leaders are acquiring a comprehensive understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation and are preparing to implement activities to combat climate change in their respective regions. This network actively champions the cause of climate action and establishes connections with like-minded individuals and organizations while fostering innovative, youth-driven solutions.
Recognising the significant role that South Asia’s ambitious youth must play in shaping climate action and regional climate policy discussions, the programme’s co-implementers and supporters are fully committed to launching and sustaining the CACN. This initiative provides a forum for South Asian climate champions to engage in substantive conversations by addressing various global issues that have local significance. These issues encompass the green technology sector, the effects of climate change on biodiversity, climate-smart agriculture, climate finance, air pollution, and the development of climate change policies.
The goal of this network is to identify collective pathways to produce recommendations, solutions, and ideas for mitigating climate change and building climate resilience within systems and communities in the region. We are moving towards developing a collaborative framework that can not only influence national climate policies but also regional climate agendas, with a strong emphasis on promoting innovative solutions propelled by the dynamic energy of youth for a sustainable and prosperous future.
